Our Top 5 Things To Do In Southampton!

Most of our guests that stay with us here at The Blue Keys Hotel have travelled overseas and we love meeting so many different nationalities!

Millions of cruise visitors arrive in Southampton each year. We love living here and we wanted to share our favourite 5 places to visit when you come and stay with us:

The Mayflower Theatre

A 2000-seat, grade II listed theatre, this 90-year-old venue has played host to some of the most popular West End productions and major music acts.

If you’re visiting Southampton between 28 May – 8 June you could catch The Bodyguard with Alexandra Burke!

Tudor House and Garden

Once you are all ‘historied’ out, you can go and enjoy some gorgeous cakes and tea at the Tudor Café, overlooking beautiful Tudor Knot garden

This one is a personal favourite of ours! The Tudor House and Garden Museum contains over 800 years of history. Get a unique insight into the lives of the Southampton residents over hundreds of years and take a look at some amazing historical artefacts including The Book Of Hours, a tiny book made in around 1480!

SeaCity Museum

From the Middle Ages, Southampton was a major centre for shipbuilding and before planes were used to get around everywhere, this city was known as Britain’s gateway to the world.

The SeaCity Museum is dedicated to telling the stories of the people who came in and out of Southampton over the last 200,000 years.

Also, did you know that many of the people who perished on the Titanic were residents of Southampton?

The SeaCity Museum tells the story of the people of the city, their fascinating lives and historic connections with Titanic and the sea. It is the perfect place for maritime lovers to spend their day.

Medieval City Walls

Southampton’s 14th Century medieval walls are the third-longest unbroken stretch of city wall in Britain.

Follow the walls and you will come across St. Michael’s Medieval church, a 14th-century warehouse and a 12th-century hospital among others!

Guided tours are available for this on the Discover Southampton website. Click HERE to visit.

Beaulieu Moto Museum

This awesome museum houses over 250 historical motors right next to a stunning 13th century Cistercian abbey and the Montagu palace house, built in 1538.

It’s easy to spend a full day here and if you love your motors, you’ll be in your element.

If you’re in Southampton on 7th April, Beaulieu is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Aston Martin DB7 with an entire day dedicated to the vehicles!

Don’t worry if you’re not around for that particular event as they hold various fantastic events throughout the year. Just visit their website for more information.
