Trip Advisor customer reviews
Good location. Very attentive staff
I stayed here overnight as I was on a business training course at the Novatel. This hotel was only a short drive away. Having read that the owners were updating the place I wondered what to expect.
The place is newly and tastefully decorated. I stayed in a good sized single room with ensuite. It was spotless, the bed was comfy, the shower was large and powerful with plenty of hot water, the tv had Freeview with enough channels. I had room 5 at the back of the hotel and it was quiet.
As I was a female travelling alone I didn't want to venture out so I had dinner downstairs. I sat in the area at the back of the bar which wasnt busy and Gary the barman was very helpful.
(cont.....) He even realised the music was too loud without being told and turned it down before I could say anything.
The meal was very good, the portions were plentiful, the variety of menu made my choices difficult! Elliott was also the chef and came out personally to check that everything was ok with my meal.
Continental breakfast was included in the price I paid and was also good. I would definitely stay here again.
It's not easy taking over a business like this but all the hard work is paying off. I was made to feel very welcome and safe and I wish Elliott and Becky all the best.
superb food and serviceVisited Blue Keys on 11/12/12 for an evening meal with my wife, greated and seated straight away all staff were very friendly and was made to feel at home.
Good food, comfortable room, excellent ambiance and friendly staffReviewed 16 December 2012 After staying at this hotel and being slightly aprehensive due to mixed reviews I can honestly say I would recommend it to friends and family. The room was comfortable and nice and warm on arrival. We were told about the free Wi-fi which is handy, the service times and generally greeting well. The breakfast menu had a good selection of cooked breakfasts and the food was tasty- just what we needed (although the menu was slightly confusing). The staff were friendly, welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we had a nice stay. We would definately come back to this hotel as the location is good and not too far from the centre of town.
Just spent a couple of nights at your hotelThe room was bright and very clean. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, even when very busy on the Tuesday night. There were lots of people eating but the young lady kept her cool and always had a smile on her face. The food was excellent, warm plates, good portions, very tasty. The atmosphere in the bar area on the Tuesday night was cheerful. Our daughter has just started uni so we will be visiting her from time to time, without getting in the way of her social life!! and will definetly stay with you again. Keep up the good work, wishing you all the very best. I am sure The Blue Keys will be a great success for you.

I just wanted to leave a note to say...how much we enjoyed our meal at the hotel last night. We had driven past lots of times but decided to try the restaurant as a anniversary celebration. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was well priced and very beautifully presented. It was a beautiful interior and a great place for a meal- highly recommended! Now I know about the Sunday jazz lunches, I won't need to go to the Cowherds now! If anyone reading this has not visited, then you should. You would not regret it and like us, it will become a favourite to visit again and again. A big thankyou to all the staff!
Great for a lone womanI stayed one night when in emotional difficulty. Landlady very kind. She carried my bag upstairs. I got a good discount as they had no single room but I had a family room. The room and bathroom were spotless and very comfortable. The service was excellent. I would heartily recommend it to any woman traveling alone.
